Members coloradofly Posted March 15, 2009 Author Members Posted March 15, 2009 Yes i do tie, and I will bring an 8 or 9 wt.... For some reason i am obsessed with catching the most difficult fish on a fly rod. For this spring, my goal is a striper over 20lbs. This spring/summer it is to catch a muskie on the fly. I think it can be done with much patients and the ability to sight fish. I plan on tying bid nasty flies in the 6 to 8 inch ranch.

Considering most Pomme de Terre Musky are in the 35 to 40 inch range, I would say you're in for an epic fight when you hook up.............................................
trout fanatic Posted March 21, 2009 Posted March 21, 2009 It has been several years since I have fished Pomme. But I too am after a muskie with a fly rod. Just now starting to check around for patterns and such and will pass on what I find out. In the meantime if anyone has any top secret fly patterns that you would never pass on to anyone else please tell me (I won't tell nobody).
Members walleyerich Posted March 24, 2009 Members Posted March 24, 2009 If you really want to catch Musky on Pomme then I would google Coaches Guide Service - Jim Wilson or Earl Hammond. They both are local experts on Pomme. I would highly recommend. If you are going by yourself then try Martin's Flat or Russell Cove Point. These are especially good with the wind blowing into them. I would fish shallow with inline bucktails or large shallow crank baits.
