ozark trout fisher Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Drum like holding in slack water near deeper water just off the channel of the river. I caught mine casting cross channel onto a rock flat. Here is a picture of him. and another one of the same fish. The fly in his mouth is a 2" woolly. That's a pig. I catch most of mine in vegetation right by the stream bank in the slower pools.
drew03cmc Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 I caught him on a 5wt, but wish I had a 3 or 2 to fight him. It would have been more fun. Andy

I think they offer about as good of sport as bass or trout. I guess it's because they are sorta ugly to be honest.................
drew03cmc Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 They are roughfish, but the way they have a kind of iridescent purplish sheen on their sides is kind of pretty. Andy
am4mu Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Just my two cents worth on the Feathercarft and T Hargroves issue. I had to go to St Peter's late yesterday on business so I stayed the night and went to Feathercraft this morning. I was waiting for Bob at the door when he arrived and he was nothing but gracious and accomodating to me. Now having said that when I left Feathercraft I went west on Manchester and tried to get into Hargroves and there was literally no place to park at Hargroves. Well staring a four hour drive in the face and not needing anything in particular I chose the get out of dodge option. Feathercraft treated me really well and the crowd at Hargroves probably speaks for itself. In my humble opinion a person could probably do very well in either one of these shops. drew03cmc Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Good call Doug! Thanks a million. You, dpenrod and I should get together to harass some bluegill soon! Andy
Geoff Posted May 9, 2009 Posted May 9, 2009 i used to tie for Hargrove and i love those guys there. Parking does suck, im not going to lie, but its worth going into the shop. i, personally, am not the biggest fan of Feather craft. They always have the attitude of , oh look heres some kid whos thinks he can fish and has no money, when i walk int he door. ok then...its been more misses then hits for me there. Cabela's has some good stuff every now and then, i just picked up a #1 grade grizzly cape for 25 bucks out there. its a nice cape with plenty of varitey and good feathers "When you do things right, people wont be sure you've done anything at all."
