Members riverfish86 Posted March 28, 2009 Members Posted March 28, 2009 All I can say is that it's between Wenkel Ford and Melody Lake. I talked to my uncle who fished last weekend and he said that fishing was tough. I think the fish are moving now into the spawning areas. In a few more weeks bass and goggle eye fishing should get good.
hank franklin Posted March 29, 2009 Posted March 29, 2009 Well, I probably know the exact area you speak of, and we'll keep it between us. Slow gurgling current, rock cover everywhere, we've done good there too. All C & R on our part too. We were on the Black River last weekend. Great fishing as the weather warmed. There were times it was practically a summer pattern. Thinking of hitting the Bourbeuse either next weekend or Easter week.
Members Bourbeuse River Angler Posted May 21, 2009 Members Posted May 21, 2009 I to fish the Bourbeuse much of the year. I have a clubhouse down below Goodes Mill. I have caught many smallmouth between 16-20 inches, mainly in the spring of the year. Some of my best days on the river have been warm spells from this point in year up until the end of April. My personal best is a 3.75 lb 20 inch smallmouth caught on July 19th during the middle of a hot day. I have even caught a 3lb Wallaye in the spring. I love this little river, never know what you are going to catch. I would love to have a club house up there...We always have to put in at 44 and run/drag our way up there. It's always worth it though. Not to show anyone up, but my dad caught a 5.5 pound smallmouth at guths mill last fall. I'll post a picture soon, because its the biggest bass I've ever seen come out of the bourbeuse - especially a smally. Just a side note...we released it so she's still out there!
