brownieman Posted March 7, 2009 Posted March 7, 2009 Not sure where you are from but there is a fellow in Rolla Mo....'Ozark Taxidermy' His work that I have seen looks pretty darn good...doesn't use fake heads and such. I know the big thing is replicas...that's all fine and dandy but when it comes to trout being a put and take fish I feel a little different towards them. A smallie, yes I would have a replica made but trout are fairly plentiful and IMO the replicas just dont look near as good as the real thing...none that I have seen anyway, it's more than apparant they are fake. Pull up his website..ozarktaxidermy...and chack his work out...have several friends that have used him and they have been well satisfied with their fish and other mounts, deer, etc. Sometimes he takes a while but I feel that's the nature of the business. The best I have ever seen is my friend that used to do taxidermy but he got out of it a few years back...he's the one I uesd to keep some big ones and give him to practice on. I'll attach a couple of pics of his work, one is a mount of a male he did for me and the other is a table top mount of a 28 incher I gave him...wish he were still doing it but, oh well...I also wish I would have bought his supplies when he got out of it and learned myself. Anyway, this guy does fairly good work...worth consideration. My friends say I'm a douche bag ?? Avatar...mister brownie bm <><

I believe it's the same guy who does Missouri Trout Hunter.com, by the way a great site.

If you have ever been to Backcountry OUtfitters, his work is on display with several mounts that Michael and friends have caught. For a custom mount, none better. HIs work is show quality. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.
