Don Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 My friend Greg and I arrived at the lower MDC access about 2 PM. It was my second time at Crane and Greg's first. The weather was great and we had an extra hour to fish because of daylight savings time. Today I fished a prince nymph, mohair leech, pheasant tail and a few other nymphs. One strike and no fish. We ran into trout_bum again and he had already caught several fish. We spent two hours there then we drove to the park where we ran into Terry Beeson in pursuit of the elusive McCloud. We then fished two more hours from the ball park to the railroad bridge. Greg caught one on an elk hair caddis. He was happy he tagged one on his first trip there. Fish, or no fish, we had a good time. Don Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
patfish Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 Don, I feel your pain brother. I too have a score to settle at Crane. The place sure is pretty though. I'll be down that way soon.
Terry Beeson Posted March 9, 2009 Posted March 9, 2009 This was more of a guide trip for me as I was taking my lovely bride out for some fly casting and fly fishing experience. But I did get to fish a bit. I did land a nice 8 incher right after you guys left, Don. Of course, it was a Horny Head Chub.... but it was 8 inches long... Did get a few nice shots of Crane at the park.... Don Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 I thought that was a little guy standing on Cindy's shoulder. Don May I caught you a delicious bass.
Danoinark Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Nice pictures T...can you fish upstream of the bridge there? Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Terry Beeson Posted March 11, 2009 Posted March 11, 2009 Yep, Dano... you're looking downstream at the bridge there, but there is fishing upstream and downstream from the bridge. Better fishing is down below the bridge and up above the park, although I've seen some nice fish in the park.
