vonreed Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 Well I think I'm the last person to know, or nobody from here fishes there. I got to the whisles about 6:30 last night and there were a ton of people there. Lots of people with white bass on the stringer, but they were mostly males. It was nice to finally get into some whitebass though. It seems they turned off right before dark mostly. I left with 8 at 8:30, but probably would have had my limit if I'd gotten there earlier.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 10, 2009 Root Admin Posted March 10, 2009 What did you find that they'd hit? Most of the anglers I saw the other day that were doing the best were throwing rooster tails.

Fished Slough Hollow last night starting at 7:30. Caught a couple LM right off the bat. After that slow going. Fished Slough Hollow, the hole 1/4 mile up stream and Shadow Rock Park- not a white to be had. Threw numerous colors of SM and a husky jerks at em, but they weren't havin it. Headed home at 11:00. So goes white bass fishing in the Spring - it's either all or nothing.
vonreed Posted March 10, 2009 Author Posted March 10, 2009 What did you find that they'd hit? Most of the anglers I saw the other day that were doing the best were throwing rooster tails. Well at first I used the trusty ole white slider, and after a while of nothing and watching others catching I looked closer to what they were using and swithed to a short rapala minnow and within a minute had a couple hits and misses. After dark I used a swimming minnow, but the best bite was by far before dark.
Sam Posted March 10, 2009 Posted March 10, 2009 We got into the whites the other day, and I tried several colors and sizes of swimmin' minnows and maribou crappie jigs as well as a bigger roostertail. I finally settled on and did best with a 1/8 oz. roostertail, black with silver blade, fished as slow as I could to barely keep the blade turning.
lonkm Posted March 14, 2009 Posted March 14, 2009 Wife and I went for several hours this evening. No whites, largemouth, crappie, walleye. My wife caught several nice bluegill on a little crankbait. Bout twice the size of a june bug. Bank fisherman were catching gills also. Tried every color and size with out any luck. Lots of shad though. Might be spawning? Come On Warm Weather!!
Members whitebassman Posted March 14, 2009 Members Posted March 14, 2009 I'll be going Monday, so I will have a new report for you all. I've been getting reports from my brother, who lives in Kissee Mills, and fishes about every night, he says the fishin' is starting to really pick up around the whistles. He caught some nice sows right before this last cold snap. He said they were starting to hit those ever famous "blue back" rebels. Last Saturday, Me,my son, and him all caught our limit of nice studs. We used mainly whitr roostertails and sliders, fished slow. Until later, good fishin' to all!
