Members Bob On Rainy Lk Posted March 17, 2009 Members Posted March 17, 2009 Hi all, My wife and I are making our first trip to the Ozark's (Table Rock Lake) next week. We know very little about the area. We're from the Twin Cities area of MN. Our favorite fishing area is Rainy Lake (www.rainylake.org) on the MN/Ontario border. From May through Sept we frequently travel 300 miles to our small re-built houseboat, docked at a marina just outside of Voyageur's National Park. Rainy is about 220,000 acres , with about 54,000 acres in Minnesota. Its an incredible fishery for Walleyes (and sauger), Northern Pike, Small Mouth Bass, and Crappie. I mostly target Walleyes. We're looking forward to getting to know more about Table Rock as a late winter get-away for us this year and possibly future years. We're mostly touring and camping this year, not towing our boat. We will probably rent one for a day. I'm glad I found this forum - seems like lots of good folks willing to share and help others out. Thanks for letting us join you.

Looking forward to seeing you on the waters! Blessings! Bill You should have fun. Table Rock is a great lake for Largemouth, Smallmouth, White Bass, Catfish, and Walleye. Also don't forget to hit Lake Taneycomo below the dam for big rainbows and brown trout.
DD'sMC Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Welcome to the forum. Although I have been to your neck of the woods a couple of times, I've not ever had the opportunity to fish any of your 10,000 lakes, but hope to in the future. Best of luck to you here in the Ozarks! We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give. The two best times to go fishing? When it is raining and when it is not.
tippett7 Posted March 18, 2009 Posted March 18, 2009 Welcome to the forum. I would love to go ice fishing some time in your state. I freeze her in the winters catching fish so I might as well catch fishin sitting ina nice warm shed fishing thru the ice.
DoveTail Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Welcome to the forum. Just below the dam for Table Rock is a flooded river channel called Lake Taneycomo, a great place for fly fishing if you are interested in that.
denjac Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Welcome, I lived south of the cities in the mid 70's to early 80's. lived in Kenyon around 12 miles east of Fairbuilt. You will love it down here, walleye fishing is better here unless you would go way North to boundry waters, lake of the woods ect. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo.
