Danoinark Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Thankyou for the help. I'm going to tie up a bunch and use them this Saturday at Taney. I'll let you know how I did. Jon, I am anxious to see how they work for you. Are you going to tie them in 20's or smaller or up the size a bit? Dano Glass Has Class "from the laid back lane in the Arkansas Ozarks"
Terry Beeson Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 If you ever want to learn how to fish and tie on a budget with items you normally don't see in a fly shop, get Sister Carol Ann Corley to do a presentation at your club meetings. You will be amazed how much fly tying stuff is out there that you never really thought about. And she's a WONDERFUL lady to be around. tippett7 Posted March 20, 2009 Author Posted March 20, 2009 I was going to start with some 20 and 22 and use them as a dropper.
Greg Posted March 20, 2009 Posted March 20, 2009 Greg, Here are a few items I have picked up throughout the years: Foam sheets (you can buy a multiple color pack of 20 sheet for less than $5) Lead wire Crystal bead (200 for less than $2.00, I have used them in hook sizes 12 to 24) Metal bead feathers threads scissors glue sticks yarn That is all I can think of at this time. But each item I purchased is going to last me for years at a lower cost. later, FFM Thanks. That's great. It'll give me something productive to do the next time I'm there. I'm going to pick some of the thread for the yong fly too. I'll bet it would be a great dropper off a heavier fly.
