Crappie5 Posted March 24, 2009 Posted March 24, 2009 Okay, I appoligize for a late report I have been gone but here are some pics from last week while fishing up in the Kings River. I started out at about 11:30. I talked to Bill B. at the boat ramp and they had some nice whites and some crappie. Always nice to chat with him for a minute. On Tuesday, March 17 I caught this nice limit in about 1-1/2 hours. I was using a slip bobber with a 1/16 oz red/white tube jig under it holding in the average of 8' staying in 20-23 ft of water in tree tops. I call what I did the pre-stage because I would catch them in pairs. I would usually catch a decent male and then keep working the same tree and eventually catch the female. That would be it. So I hit a lot of trees. The next day I was on the water at sunrise and thought I would do even better. I had caught 10 crappie by 10 am and they all were 9" to 9-3/4" so I then went up the river and caught a decent limit of white bass on pearl swimming minnows with 1/8 oz jig head. It's a little early yet on the crappie and now the rain and cold front I believe will push them back farther.
shaker Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 If you don't mind how far up the river are the white bass and what was the water temp. Couple of friends are planning on heading that way middle of next week, appreciate all the help we can get.
Tightline Posted March 25, 2009 Posted March 25, 2009 Man o man those are some nice slabs there Crappie5. The Kings must be on fire with all the good reports we are getting,Whites,Crappie. Now who's gonna give us a good Walleye report ? One thing about Table Rock Crappie is you can never read a newspaper through 'em like some from other places I've caught . Good report.
Crappie5 Posted March 25, 2009 Author Posted March 25, 2009 Shaker, the water temps was 55 around the Hickory hollow area all the way to 86 bridge, as you get more towards Arkansas I found 58-60 but this was last week. As of last week I seen whites being caught from Sweetwater all the way to the Arkansas line. Size seems to be above the bridge and quantity below.
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted March 25, 2009 Root Admin Posted March 25, 2009 Thanks Crappie5... I was with Bill at the ramp. Sorry I didn't introduce myself. Might get over to the Kings Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. I've got trips all three days and will pick the best place to go.
shaker Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Thanks Crappie5 we're suppose to get snow this weekend, I hope that it dosen't happen down that way.
