Gone Fishing Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I am desperatly needing a fuel rail for a 1997 200 Mercury DFI(Opti-max). Merc has discontined parts and no aftermarket parts dealer has started carrying them yet. Does anyone know where or who to contact to find one. I might even be interested in a blown or parted out motor to buy to get the parts off of. The boat is a sitting duck till I find one. Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

edwin Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Drop an email to Don Weed, owner of European Marine at Parts@europeanmarine.org. He's a rockstar with Merc's and likely can help. (864) 421-0444 "Advantages are taken, not handed out"

S&M Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 I am desperatly needing a fuel rail for a 1997 200 Mercury DFI(Opti-max). The fuel rail is an expensive part $$$ It looks like this company has the fuel rail, but you need to use your engine serial # for a positive confirmation of his parts listed. Click for parts link > Mercury DFI Opti-max fuel rail On another note, what makes you think your fuel rail needs to be replaced ? I'd sure like to save you some money if possible. Was an air pressure test done before the fuel rail test? Fuel pressure should be 10psi over air pressure test. If the fuel pressure is not 10psi over air pressure, the engine is out of calibration and will run poorly or not at all. Once fuel lines have been checked for any restrictions, the next step would be to replace the "fuel pressure regulator" before replacing the fuel rail. How do I deal with those who ignore the 50 yard encroachment rule?......I show them just how accurate I am with a crank bait!
Gone Fishing Posted March 27, 2009 Author Posted March 27, 2009 Thanks for all the help. Denjac, I think Frankies might have found me one. S&M, yes very expensive. New around $750 bucks, if you can find one. Baxter marine has been working on it and has tried every possible thing. But I'm afraid that is my problem. Again thanks for everyone's help.
