Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 2, 2006 Root Admin Posted April 2, 2006 Tom Vince and I just got back from the Pot Hole- well Vince is still up there. We got there about 6 pm at Silver Creek Gravel Bar- water was dropping out- little bit of current. Whites were circling on the surface. We caught 3- 2 sows and one male. I caught one on a rebel and the others on a motor oil swimming minnow. Water started running again about 7:30 pm- we drove up to the wing wall at the dam. I caught a short walleye- purple swimming minnow. Then a keeper 19 inch. Tom caught a short walleye and I caught another 2 short walleye. Water came on again at 8:30- Tom and I left. Report is alot of walleye still in the upper lake. A few whites circling but not many. Lots of boats down below the bridge in the flats. Other reports?
troutgnat Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 Phil, Any additional rain down that way to bring the water up? How's she looking? Are the whites still in the Silver Creek area/Pothole area and on down. Any water in Swan and Beaver Creek to speak of and are they holding any whites??? Will be down next week on vacation and would love to flyfish for some whitebass somewhere! Darren Sadler "Fishing is an Education...Often the fish 'school' me, yet I do not complain. I just keep going to class!"
Members hemingway2 Posted April 7, 2006 Members Posted April 7, 2006 Just wanted to say that the fish are there for sure but you have to know how to get them on your line. In the last week I have had two browns that were 8+ pounds, two limits of whites and 9 walleye. Heres a simple hint the water is low so alot of light gets to the bottom, Try useing light pure floro line and if weighting place the weights at least 2 and a half feet from the hook. Use the biggiest shinners you can get for the whites and clown exwraps for the walleye at night. As for the browns i have developed a certain method which will remain a scecret(its a very legal method)until i catch one over ten pounds but they are biteing below swan creek and thats the only hint i will give. I will post the method after i have my ten. Good luck and lets get some more reports going so we can all enjoy the sport.
