binman Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Well Dad and I set out this morning at about 8:00 at Old State Park wind was blowing but not too awful bad ran to Hawker no fish so moved a little way's caught a 16 1/2 in LM then ............ The top of my trolling motor breaks completely off and to top it off is stuck down and won't come up so while I got Dad up on the bow with screwdriver's in hand trying to get this fixed we blow strait into the point we are fishing and are now beached up on a island!!!! Well with a little effort we got set back up and went to the middle of the lake to fix the trolling motor. So after 15 more minutes or so and a roll of electrical tape later we are back in good.Looked around didn't see no boats for a long time so we decide to head back to Old State Park when we saw 3 1/2 ft white caps at least well needless to say is that 16 ft 9 in boat I got don't like it. When we left there was not another boat in the parking lot Brandon Inman
Dutch Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Well I guess that makes you tougher than I am because I stayed home.
Whodat Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Son, you forgot the part about the third cast my rod fly's out into the lake and my reel falls in the lake. Then 5 minutes later the whole dam eye breaks off your rod.I tied on a chomper bait a first cast it breaks off and fly's about 50 yards up in the woods. In my 47 years of life I have never seen the rath of Stockton like it was yesterday!!!!!!! Fishin with my son in his Champion Boat..........Priceless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
rps Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 So, you were lucky and left the lake before the tornado hit?

binman Posted April 5, 2009 Author Posted April 5, 2009 Also would like to just throw this in to yesterday was rough and in my personal opinion dangerous and I am glad that I had my Dad with me so his boating experience could get us home Thanks Brandon Inman
Dutch Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 You sound surprised by the windy weather. Do you knot check the weather before you go to the lake?
rps Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 binman: I was pulling your leg. The list of bad things about the day was amazing. Only a tornado would have made it worse. I am glad you got home safe. rps
