I am new to this site and new to fishing in MO. I have fished extensively in KS and on Texoma. I have a deep v 19' Lowe with a 90 hp Evinrude. I have spent most of my fishing time trolling, downrigging, and using planer boards to catch: Stripers, Wipers, Whites, and Walleye. I have been very succesful on all species. My question is, can I run a boat of this type below the Dam at Truman or below Bagnell on the Osage. I have run rivers in KS and have done well with my techniques there, but don't know the Osage well enough to know if I can pull it off. I am quite comfortable on big water, but I am not interested in tearing my boat up on an impossible mission. I would love to give this a shot, any advice will be greatly appreciated. I will post all results good or bad to help others catch more fish.

Thanks in advance,

Welcome wiper, no problem on the Osage below Truman, plenty of water and your boat will be just fine. You can put in at down town Warsaw, probably your best bet. There is a ramp up close to Truman dam called East Bledsoe ferry but that ramp can be quite shallow if the Ozarks is down. If you head down the river past 65 highway bridge you really need to pay attention to the river channel as there are quite a few mud flats in the upper end of the Ozarks. Don't know about below Bagnel but I think that it is much more shallow, more off a smaller boat, shallow draft type river. Fishing should be picking up, it's been pretty much hit or miss lately, just need some stable water and the corps to crack open the flood gates a little. I'd be happy to help you all I can!

You'll be fine to fish below Bagnell on down to the Lazy K campground if the water is off. If they are running a lot of water, then you can run just about anywhere you want on the river.

Thanks for the info. Approximately how far is the run down to the Lazy K? Alos if they are running water, and yo head down can they shut it off and trap you, or are you able to tell when it starts dropping? How's the wiper striper fishing in this region?

I'd guess lazy K to be about 2 miles below the Hwy 54 bridge just guessing. Usually if they are running water hard, when you get there then it will be running the whole time. I guess it's possible to get trapped like you said if they shut it down, but you will probably notice the water dropping soon enough to get back up river. Wipers are decent. I'm always hearing of guys catching quite a few nice ones near the darn, but I haven't ever tried it much myself up there. The MariOsa access is where I usually do most of my wiper fishing because it's about an hour closer than Bagnell.

Thanks again for the info. So being the new dumb guy where is MariOsa?

It's about 15 minutes East of Jefferson City where Highway 63 and 50 meet.
