denjac Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Although it doesnt look like it in the picture it went over 5 pounds. Just thought it was a beatiful bass. Bill, notice the grub in his mouth. That was the only grub fish I had today Fished for about 3 hours from noon til 3.. all the other fish all spots came off the stick. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Jason Essary Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 Denjac, beautiful fish. what area was u fishing? I just got in, fished between point 5 and 6, couple community holes and a couple i have done in and only had one swipe at a stick, 0 fish. Fished char. shad pointer, s&p grub, and even tried split shot for awhile with no luck. temps were 51 where i was. really thought id catch some, maybe the water temp drop killed it for me. went out with beck last thursday, caughts some good quality fish, but nothing on my own. So Denjac, bill, anyone.....what i do wrong. Essary Construction - Honest work for honest price Custom Construction and Remodeling Call for free quotes (417)338-6418 http://essarycustomhomes.com/
denjac Posted April 15, 2009 Author Posted April 15, 2009 I was fishing in the Indians, not too far from where you were. Were you hiding from the wind? Gotta stay in it for the better bite. Also stay with the bait that they are hitting, like the stick and dont jump from one pole to the other. Having faith in your bait is half the battle. Stick and grub is all I threw today. The stick outpreformed it today and the only bite I got on the grub was Mr. big, but I knew they would hit it and stayed with it. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. Jason Essary Posted April 15, 2009 Posted April 15, 2009 oh ya, i was in the wind. couple of places my troll was coming out every once and awhile. maybe its just me. i left the indians, to fish main lake after going with beck thursday, maybe a bad move. i threw a stick 75 percent of the time i believe, tried letting it soak for up to a 20 count, and tried faster retrieves. Im just not understanding, guess im still down low on the learning curve Essary Construction - Honest work for honest price Custom Construction and Remodeling Call for free quotes (417)338-6418 http://essarycustomhomes.com/
Members Hawghunter Posted April 15, 2009 Members Posted April 15, 2009 Denjac , Thats a Hawg. Coyote , I feel your pain. I went out from 7AM to 1Pm and caught one 17in smallie and 2 short Ky's and that was it. I fished from the dam to down in Long creek but could not get it going. I also fought the wind which was a chore trying to work the bait and handle the trolling motor. This stick bite always seems to happen on the time I'm not on the water or I need more practice with the bait. I guess we need to practice it more by fishing daily.
