Members Trolling For Walleye Posted April 19, 2009 Members Posted April 19, 2009 was thinking about adding XM Radio to my boat... i know most of you probably don't listen to music while fishing.. but i sure do and enjoy it. this probably won't get any replies.. but i was going to at least try. Anyway.. if by chance you do... do you get reception on the water? Boat is on Table Rock Lake near Shell Knob, MO
Whack'emGood Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 was thinking about adding XM Radio to my boat... i know most of you probably don't listen to music while fishing.. but i sure do and enjoy it. this probably won't get any replies.. but i was going to at least try. Anyway.. if by chance you do... do you get reception on the water? The XM signal comes via satellite. You should get reception anywhere on the planet that is not directly under a tree or where a big building is blocking your view of the sky. Reception should be great out on the water. Whack'em "Success builds confidence, and you have to learn to trust your instincts and forget about fishing the way a tournament is supposed to be won. I'm going to fish my style and make it work for me." -KEVIN VANDAM "Confidence is the best lure in your tackle box." -GERALD SWINDLE "A-Rig? Thanks, but no thanks. If I can't catch them on the conventional tackle that I already use, then I guess I just can't catch them." -LK (WHACK'EM)
Chris Tetrick Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I've got XM on my boat's radio but I'm not subscribed to it. I've got a friend who works at the Kimberling City marina and carries a portable boombox to the dock with her and gets reception there. I think Whack'em is right, they pick up a satellite signal like a GPS and should pick up about anywhere on the lake. Mid Lakes Guide Svc. edwin Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 I have Sirius on one of my boats...works fantastic on any body of water I've been to. Highly recommend it if you like to listen to tunes. "Advantages are taken, not handed out"
motoman Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Like edwin said, it works great down here on The Rock. Used it today!

Members Nitro FIsh Posted April 29, 2009 Members Posted April 29, 2009 I've got it and it works everywhere, the only issue I had initialy was I wasn't getting good reception until I added this antenna, Terk XM-5 Marine Antenna (White)
motoman Posted April 29, 2009 Posted April 29, 2009 T4W, glad to hear everything worked out for yah. - It's funny, I thought it was ridiculous to get pay radio, but once I bought it; I was addicted. I haven't listened to free radio in years. It's like not having cable television..............I would'nt dream of going back to the old rabbit ears T.V.!
