was thinking about adding XM Radio to my boat... i know most of you probably don't listen to music while fishing.. but i sure do and enjoy it.

this probably won't get any replies.. but i was going to at least try.

Anyway.. if by chance you do... do you get reception on the water?

The XM signal comes via satellite. You should get reception anywhere on the planet that is not directly under a tree or where a big building is blocking your view of the sky. Reception should be great out on the water.

I've got XM on my boat's radio but I'm not subscribed to it. I've got a friend who works at the Kimberling City marina and carries a portable boombox to the dock with her and gets reception there. I think Whack'em is right, they pick up a satellite signal like a GPS and should pick up about anywhere on the lake.

It's funny, I thought it was ridiculous to get pay radio, but once I bought it; I was addicted. I haven't listened to free radio in years. It's like not having cable television..............I would'nt dream of going back to the old rabbit ears T.V.!
