Getting everything ready for Wednesday ! Looking at all the tips and helpful hints. Have a question though. If I take the canoe out on Tan Vat is there a service or canoe rental place that could take us back to the truck?

No commercial service that would take you back to Tan Vat. Jadwin Canoe does service Baptist for rental, but I don't know whether they would simply transport you back from Cedar Grove to Baptist. I suspect not. You really need to arrange your own pick-up and transport. Most people do it by way of more than one vehicle, dropping one off at your intended take-out spot.

Its a long way to walk from any access past Baptist. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have no other choice and are dead set on a float. Also, it would probably be a good idea to lock the canoe to a tree so nobody steals it.

Cute animals taste better.

Personally, I wouldn't suggest walking from Cedar or Parker Hollow to Tan Vat, unless you like walking more than fishing. It's something like seven miles to Cedar Grove, and five and a half to Parker Hollow. If you can't arrange transportation, the wading is pretty easy, and you'll probably catch just as many fish. Hit it at Tan vat, Baptist, or Parker Hollow, and wade upstream. If you're dead set on a float and can't find any transportation, you can probably get a shuttle from Cedar to Akers, which is a pretty good White Ribbon trout fishing float. Not quite as many fish as the Blue Ribbon unless you hit it soon after a stocking, but I believe you'll find a good mix of rainbow trout, smallmouth bass, and a few brownies. I've heard it's a pretty area with decent fishing, and about nine miles long. This is further downstream, so the water is a little bigger and a little slower.

Or you could run the really short float from Tan Vat to Baptist a few times, walking to the car would be a little more reasonable, I believe its only about a mile and a half or so. There is some really good trout water in that stretch. But then again, the whole section is wadeable most of the time, so it might be a waste of time to float it.

Oh yeah, I've heard rumors that the Blue Ribbon Area has been recently stocked with brown trout. There about 8 or 10 inches long when stocked, so they're nothing really to get excited about, but it should mean you won't have too much trouble catching some naive trout.

May be true, but I just spent 3 days on the Current and didn't catch a Brown under 10". Most were 11-15" Maybe I just don't know how to catch stockers, though.

Jadwin Canoe would be your best bet for a shuttle from Baptist to Cedar...Akers Ferry can put you in for a float from Cedar to Akers...Below there...Current River Canoe at Pulltite, or Carr's at Round Spring.. Give em a call and see how they want to run it. Usually costs about the same as a daily canoe rental.

Another option... hook up with some other floaters, a friendly local, or some friendly fisherman, but that can be hit or miss proposition. Cheers.

Yeah I will have to give them a call.

Defenantly OTF we will be locking everything down.

I thought I saw some where on one of the sites that it was a $20 fee for shuttle service but I dont remember which one it was. I think it was Akers C.R.

I will give them a call to find out.
