ozarkgunner Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 WOW... I just picked up a bolt (2000 yards) of vanish at the local BPS and just happened to walk by the G. Loomis section. They have a casting rod called the bronzeback 6-12 lb. 6'9" med-light. I almost died after I picked it up..... feels like a million bucks. I can just see myself grub fishing with it as we speak. Anyone out there ever use one? I have two GL3's and a Mossyback, but I have never seen the bronzeback before. I appears to me the dream rod (except for the price $235..ouch!). Any imput before I buy would be great! Angler At Law
hoglaw Posted April 23, 2009 Posted April 23, 2009 I'm not sure what model it is, but I have a 6 ft. GL3 baitcast rod that's rated for 6-12 or 6-14 (can't rememember). It's an awesome smallmouth rod, but I use it for wading and creeking, not on a big boat. I didn't want the extra length of the bronzeback. They're the same price roughly. I'm sure the bronzeback is all that and a bag of chips though.
Dutch Posted April 24, 2009 Posted April 24, 2009 I have one and use it with a jacked up Curado throwing small grubs and medium size jerk baits. I'm planning on using it with 1/8 oz bass jigs this summer. It has filled a nice nitch in my lineup.

Members doroger Posted April 24, 2009 Members Posted April 24, 2009 Check out the Loomis Shakey Head model also, the same price, that's the one I bought over the Bronzeback model. Little different power curve, but so far have used it for shakey heads, floating worms, & drop shot with much success. Whichever model you choose, yo will be buying the best.

I'll look at the shakey head also. I love Loomis because they back thier rods. I broke 2 and they sent me new ones free of charge (less shipping). Angler At Law
