Well, if you are still checking this post -

Tuesday, 4-28-09 -

BIG rains the last 3-4 days. I'm at Peculiar and I've had 4 1/2" in 3 days, more coming. Truman is coming up. I ran down 71 Hwy yesterday heading to Stockton, lot of flooding by the creeks and rivers along 71, all of which feed Truman.

Can't say for sure how it will be when you get there, but I think it will be up and brown.

Oh yes, still checking. Supposed to rain Sat and Sun around here (St. Louis). Doesn't the weather usually come from the north/west? So hopefully it will already be passed by the time we get there on Sunday. This time of year, weather is a crap shoot. Can't be worse than it was last year, can it? :(

Kramer the spawn hasn't really started yet, mostly males on the bank. It's anybody's guess on what the lake is going to do with all the rain that has fallen. If it comes up real fast sometimes that will shut the bite off for a while, but there will be fish for you to catch when you get there it just may be a little slow going. I use jigs with a crappie nibble, road runner with black and chartreuse tube, red and chart. white and chart. blue and chart. about anything with chartreuse will work. I do like hot pink or sometimes flame orange jig heads when its very muddy with a black and pink tube just use a 2" tube or larger. I pitch jigs at the bank a lot and use a 10' rod to vertical jig around heavy cover, brush and trees. Sometimes a jig under a bobber or slip bobber works well too. Keep in touch I'll try to help as much as I can. Good luck!

Got a variety of crappie lures, etc. Friend from work was there last week and did well on blue/white tubes. Been told we are to supply the fish for mother's day.

Fished the grand arm 3 times this week and the fishing is about as good as it can get, ususally limit out in 2 to 3 hours no fish under 10'' I don't believe that all of the fish have spawned yet, but with the water rising everyday the fish have locked down on the old bank ready to spawn. Been throwing 1/16 oz. jigs with black and chartreuse 2" tubes, up toward the bank and slowly swimming it back to the boat trying to bump the bottom now and then out to 8 to 12 ft. of water. The fish seem to be somewhat scattered once in a while you'll pick up a couple in one spot, just keep moving and fish slow, slow and slower. Anything with chartreuse has been working, most of these fish have been 1/2 to 3/4 of the way back in the major creek arms off the main river channel. This pattern should work for a while until the water gets too high and muddy, just when that will happen is anybody's guess but I look forward to having good fishing until the early part of next week. Good luck and good fishing!
