Members ktm3ten Posted April 25, 2009 Members Posted April 25, 2009 Can someone explain to me what secondary points are? I just recently moved here and been trying to figure out this bass fishing thing...it's harder than I thought it was going to be!! I read as much as I can, but what is meant by a "secondary point" in the fishing reports? I'm putting in at cape fair and fishing mostly downstream from there. Seems I've tried everything and I catch a few small guys...mostly kentucky's, but getting a bit frustrated. yesterday was the straw that broke the camels back: my wife was fishing (and I use that term loosely) with a nightcrawler and single split shot, she caught 3 decent sized bass, me...nothing. I'm needing some help and guidance before I totally loose my pride. I'm heading out this AM to Cape Fair again, let me know if anyone's got any other pointers. Thanks
motoman Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 ktm, - My understanding of secondary points, are those smaller points, back in the coves. - Main lake points are just that, out in the main lake. Then once you get back into a cove, if the cove has smaller coves (or pockets) within, those points at the mouth of each of these mini-coves (or pockets) - But someone more knowledageable than I will confirm that.

GOT MY VOTE!!! Good Explaination! Only thing I would add is Creeks.. Go into a creek First point is the main lake point, go back into the creek all of the points from that point on are secondary points.. Make sense... Good Fishing Everyone.. Don Capt.
