Members HYDE Posted May 6, 2009 Members Posted May 6, 2009 WE BOOKED A FLOAT TRIP ON THE ELEVEN POINT FOR 5/29-30 WE HAVE FLOATED IT MANY TIMES BUT I/WE HAVE NEAR FISHED IT WHILE FLOATING. JUST WONDERING IF ANYONE COULD TELL ME WHAT TO EXPECT FISHING WISE WHEN I GET THERE THIS A CHURCH GROUP FLOAT AND I WAS NEEDING TO KNOW WHERE TO GO FOR THE REGULATIONS FOR THE 11POINT MAINLY NEEDING TO KNOW IF EVERYONE WHO FISHED NEEDS A TROUT STAMP OR JUST REGULAR FISHING PERMIT???? WE ARE FLOATING FROM GREER TO WHITTEN.
Members lizard Posted May 6, 2009 Members Posted May 6, 2009 No stamp needed unless you plan to keep fish. Plastis and bait is not allowed from Geer to Turners. Might try this link, http://www.missouriscenicrivers.com/Elevenpointriver.html
Mark Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Fishing was slow at Easter. Does anyone know if it has picked up?
Members HYDE Posted May 6, 2009 Author Members Posted May 6, 2009 looked at that chart from that link and i just want to make sure i understand... its says no plastics so that means even for smallies?? and if so i cant fish them until we pass turners?? i'm a bass guy and i'm confussed about no plasctics ..... tubes, worms, ect..???
Gavin Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 Greer Spring to Turner is classified as blue ribbon trout water. No bait or soft plastic lures are allowed...Flies, marabou jigs, inline spinners, hardbaits with trebles are OK though..Turner to Whitten, anything goes but you'll need a trout stamp to keep trout. Check the board at Greer for the trout and bass regulations. Good luck.
Brian Sloss Posted May 6, 2009 Posted May 6, 2009 The reasoning around the no soft plastics in the trout area is they are afraid the fish will take it deeper and thus a higher mortality rate. Doesn't matter if you are fishing smallies, the rule still applies. There are plenty of smallmouth and goggle eye in that section. A good sub. for the soft plastic grubs are marabou jigs. Bring plenty with you in different colors. You can use anything below Turners. www.elevenpointflyfishing.com www.elevenpointcottages.com (417)270-2497
superfly Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 HYDE, DON'T HAVE A SOFT PLASTIC LURES TIED ON YOUR LINE IN THE BLUE RIBBON AREA. THE MDC WILL GIVE U A TICKET IF THEY CHECK U. HAVE FUN ON YOUR TRIP DOWN THE SCENIC 11POINT.
Members HYDE Posted June 2, 2009 Author Members Posted June 2, 2009 the important thing is that the KIDS had a great time.... with that said i dont think that we will ever take another group of kids down there. we couldnt believe all the boat traffic between turners and whitten. as a bass fisherman i have always heard the comments about how rude we are in our big fast bass boats and how we never slow for smaller boats on the water well after this weekend i'll never listen to that again from anyone! i dont know many time guys in there flat-bottem boat never slowed as they passed one of us and caused the kids to tip. i and my partner had to bale out our canoe because a boater never slowed as he came around the bend!!!! i couldnt believe it when a guy at whitten told another guy that all they had done all day was "slam beers and drive up and down the river"
