Greer Spring to Turner is classified as blue ribbon trout water. No bait or soft plastic lures are allowed...Flies, marabou jigs, inline spinners, hardbaits with trebles are OK though..Turner to Whitten, anything goes but you'll need a trout stamp to keep trout. Check the board at Greer for the trout and bass regulations. Good luck.

The reasoning around the no soft plastics in the trout area is they are afraid the fish will take it deeper and thus a higher mortality rate. Doesn't matter if you are fishing smallies, the rule still applies. There are plenty of smallmouth and goggle eye in that section. A good sub. for the soft plastic grubs are marabou jigs. Bring plenty with you in different colors. You can use anything below Turners.

HYDE, DON'T HAVE A SOFT PLASTIC LURES TIED ON YOUR LINE IN THE BLUE RIBBON AREA. THE MDC WILL GIVE U A TICKET IF THEY CHECK U. HAVE FUN ON YOUR TRIP DOWN THE SCENIC 11POINT.

the important thing is that the KIDS had a great time.... with that said i dont think that we will ever take another group of kids down there. we couldnt believe all the boat traffic between turners and whitten. as a bass fisherman i have always heard the comments about how rude we are in our big fast bass boats and how we never slow for smaller boats on the water well after this weekend i'll never listen to that again from anyone! i dont know many time guys in there flat-bottem boat never slowed as they passed one of us and caused the kids to tip. i and my partner had to bale out our canoe because a boater never slowed as he came around the bend!!!! i couldnt believe it when a guy at whitten told another guy that all they had done all day was "slam beers and drive up and down the river"
