Members Hawghunter Posted May 7, 2009 Members Posted May 7, 2009 Fished Weds from 730am until about 130 pm. Caught 3 short smb(I do mean short like 7 in ) and some panfish. Tried redfin early without any takers and then used eakins jig and later shakey head. Caught all the fish on the shakey head worm. Also fished Monday with about the same results. Fished up the Indians and near the dam both days. I just cannot figure this lake out. I just got comfortable with the jerk bait bite and then the rain came and now I'm lost. I have talked to the fish and told them I will not eat them but they still won't bite. I just cannot get a good handle on the patterns now. Oh well.
Bill Babler Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Hawghunter, Hope to someday get your big Spot pic, to you. Still have not gotten the wife on the camera. Fishing was very good today in the Kimberling City to Baxter area on the Fin or Spook. Started this AM at 5:45 and they bit topwater really good till about 6:45 AM. We had, I believe about 15 topwater bites. Switched and swam a grub on flat and I mean flat gravel till 2 PM and caught them everywhere we went. Not a load per spot, mind you, but we caught fish. Couple of fish per locationm, not always a keeper, but fun fish. Used two grubs, BPS XPS Copper and Chomper Smoke Pepper. Had the boat in about 20 feet on most locations, and was a cast and a half off the bank. Strikes came in the 8 to 15 foot range. Good Luck http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
Members RogueAgent Posted May 7, 2009 Members Posted May 7, 2009 Fishing in Aunt's Creek area tonight (point 11) from about 4 till dark. Boat trouble cut our fishing time down to about three hours. What little time we were able to fish was enjoyable. Boated 6 with 3 keeps. Two spots and one largemouth all on the shaky head worm - RIGHT ON THE BANK. They'd take it lightly and start swimming toward the boat - it was a blast! Water was 67 and dingy. At dusk, we found fish blowing up on top in a cove but they wouldn't take a buzzbait or a spook (sounded like a toilet flushing). Stick with it Hawghunter!!

Good Luck Hey Bill, were you scrubbing the bottom or swimming it in that 8'-15' range? Also, the BPS website lists nothing that's just "Copper" but does have the following color for their XPS grub: "Smoke/Copper-Red Flake". Is this the one you use? Thanks!! Bill Babler Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Way different day for me today. Fished the Point 5 to Point 2 area, and it was about like the Gobe Desert. 8 total with 3 decent keepers. 1 swimming the grub and two on a split-shot, with a green pumpkin Dr. Have taken these folks for about 5 yrs. now, and it was our slowest day together. Spoke to both Paige and Buster, fishing the same water, and we were all working hard at it. I am swimming the grub. Make the long cast and let it settle to the bottom then start about a medium retrieve. The copper red fleck is the one. http://whiteriveroutfitters.com http://whiteriverlodgebb.com
focused fishing Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Caught them on the bank yesterday in the Indian Point area with a fish doctor on a split shot here's a couple of pics: 5.52 spawned out female, Jim caught one about a pound heavier with me two weeks ago Nice Brownie Mike caught. We had a total of about 25 fish with 9 keepers in four hours. Today was a different story, much tougher. Managed 9 fish and 3 keepers in four hours none were photo-worthy. All split shotting a dr. Heading to the Baxter area tomorrow, will post when I can.
