Members Doc Dave Posted May 7, 2009 Members Posted May 7, 2009 Can anyone tell me about HeadwaterBamboo rods? I saw them while browsing the web and was wondering if they were worth the money for a starter bamboo rod? Erin Go Bragh
Greg Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 They are made overseas. In China I think. My only bamboo rod is not a headwaters but it was made in China. It seems like a pretty good rod although I haven't used it very much. I've done some reading on chinese made bamboo rods. Some like them and some hate them. My opinion based on mine is that it would be a good starter bamboo rod. Gavin Posted May 7, 2009 Posted May 7, 2009 Do you want a Yugo or a Cadillac? I've played with a couple headwaters rods and I think that you will get a much better rod from a U.S. Builder. There are several cane builders in N. Arkansas, Bob Nunley, Tony Spezio, David Bolin...give em a ring and cast a couple or check out the Southern Rod Makers gathering in Mountain Home in the fall. Think Bob Nunley has a class were he will teach you to build your own a couple times a year. Cheers.
