motoman Posted May 8, 2009 Posted May 8, 2009 Went down yesterday out of PB2, fished the Glaize in several miles each direction. Got on the water around 7:00 a.m., and off about 2:00 p.m. Water temps about 63' ish. - Light to no wind with some rain in the morning, then a slight breeze picked up skies cleared a bit. - Catching crappie in sunken brush piles in small pockets along main channel. The visible brush piles didn't seem to produce, possibly they've been hammered by others before us. - Mentioning some of the small pockets off the main channel, the ones that are choked with driftwood and debris, held some nice crappie. We were casting right to the edge, or just beyond, and dropping weedless jigs down the edge of the junk and catching them. Holding the boat in about 15-20 feet of water, catching them in about 10 feet. - We were throwing a variety of colors of 2" tubes on 1/8 ounce jigheads, and a float and fly setup with maribous about 4 feet below the float. Just a twitch-twitch of the line every 5-10 seconds, slowly making its way back to the boat was working. - Saw lots of guys fishing with minnows, and a buddy of mine said the same; with better results around docks. We didn't go anywhere near any docks, or use dem minners. (but sounds like we should've ) - We didn't catch our limit, but still had a good time and caught some nice fish. - As for the Bass. The winds were calm in the morning, and there were schools of bait fish everywhere, and the bass were HAMMERING them. For hours, this went on. (reminded me of the flying sharks off the coast of south afrrica on television, where they break the surface, after charging from the depths for sea lions) I couldn't get within striking distance of any of them (but it woulod've been a snaep, they were everywhere!), as the guys with me were in crappie mode, and wanted to stick to the task at hand. But, if I were a betting man, anyone fishing for bass yesterday morning could've had a blast.
motoman Posted May 10, 2009 Author Posted May 10, 2009 Hard to believe so few reports on the LOZ section, with so many people that fish it!
