Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 18, 2009 Root Admin Posted May 18, 2009 Put in the park at 6:45. Headed up Swan on a great tip from Vince. Went to the 3rd bluff- one on the left and started catching small males on a blue rebel right off. Worked on down to the bluff on the right, where the road follows on top and people fish off of all the time, and finished there. Fished till dark. Kept 32 whites and 2 big crappie (3 of us) and threw back a bunch. Best was the rebel. Caught them on a purple jig, smoke swimming minnow and a small sluggo. Lots of whites in this area.
shaker Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 I saw this post yesterday and have been thinking about those fish, I'm just curious are these post spawn fish or are they still moving up to spawn, what was the water temp? As crazy as this spring has been anything could be happening but I would have to think that the spawn would be long over. Appreciate any thoughts about what is going on.
crappiefisherman Posted May 18, 2009 Posted May 18, 2009 Shaker I was thinkin the same thing. It was my day off today and I really gave it some thought to going over there, but other responsibilities came first.I was wonderin about the crappie locations though [ [
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted May 19, 2009 Author Root Admin Posted May 19, 2009 It is my experience whites stay in the creeks for weeks after the spawn to feed on minnows.
