I saw it, and that's the best part of the entire thing. I put a little comment on my blog about it, mostly how it makes the Ozarks look like a stereotype from Deliverance or something.

I hesitate to make this comment because I know that lots of nice folks make their living based upon the great Ozark wilderness and streams but .... I hope the story of this great Ozark heaven on earth doesn't get too much publicity.

It is by far one of the greatest places to fish, hunt and vacation. I have been to many of the Eastern and Western streams and there are few that equal in quality and accessability as do the areas in MO and ARk that we have the priviledge to enjoy with great access and quality management. I wonder if some of the writers of Field and Stream have ever had much experience other than reading "A river runs through it" in their journalism class.

Some of the greatest residents and people friendly guides and Lodge owners make this area far above the standards that I have found elsewhere.

I couldn't agree with you more. I know that the Current, while I still like to fish it, is basically gone to the beer drinking crowds forever. But it sure would be sad if that happened to the Eleven Point, and the way F&s talked about it so glowingly, I'm afraid that might really put some strain on a river that doesn't need it.

It makes me think of my home river in Colorado, the Yampa. It used to get no publicity, but then the word got out on it. Its not so much that the fishing suffered, because it really didn't. It was the wilderness experience that the river provided one that was sacrificed. I would hate to see that happen to our wild Ozark rivers. I'd prefer they always be kind of a secret.

I just hope the tourists keep going to Taneycomo, the White River, and the Current like they do now. There great trout waters, but you expect to face crowds there. Thats fine, if it keeps some people away from wilder streams like the Eleven Point, Little Piney, Crane and such. There need to be a few places that most people just don't know about.

It was fun guys. All in all it could have been written a LOT worse....it could have portrayed the trout parks like we talk about them. :P

I truly think the whole thing about press bringing huge crowds generally doesn't really happen in Missouri. We have seen a TON of press at ROLF on the North Fork of the White in the 8 years I have been guiding there and I can't say that crowds have gotten bigger at all. Generally after something like this comes out we book a couple of trips out of it and that is usually it. Besides I truly think if you looked at the average Field and Stream reader I don't think they will be coming in flocks to fly fish really anywhere....the cover of the June issue is a glimpse of that.

By the way Thom, I usually think that way about writers and such because it has been my experience in the past that writers really don't know about fly fishing.....but this writer and photographer were probably top 10 or 15 best fly fisherman I have ever guided, no kidding----who would have thought! :D

I wasn't trying to be judgmental at all personally. I thought the story was really cool, and it was definitely a great read.

You would probably know better than me on this one. I guess not too many people come running to a river just because an article was written on it. Constant, heavy publicity, I know can hurt waterways, but probably not just one article in Field and Stream.

I hope you understand, I just would like to see our rivers as pristine, and as secluded as possible.

It was an interesting read..A true Ozark experience that included some of the best, and the worst our area of the country has to offer. Trout park silliness, Wild Trout, Party floaters, a couple nights camping in peace and quiet on a gravel bar someplace. I'd say that he got the gist of it..The Ozark fisherman's version of the good, the bad, and the ugly. Glad you got some well deserved press. Cheers.

Our rivers our fine, especially mid week. Ain't nobody from the big population areas, or the rural areas, gonna zoom in here from some F & S, Outdoor Life, Mo. Conservationist or any other dang pub. and overfish our rivers. I've seen who over fishes our rivers... and they can't read!
