Coming down tomorrow for the week staying in the Baxter area Indian Hills. Looking to catch some big blue gills for the freezer and some big bass for the fun. Are the green fish on top early and late and draggin a Dr. once the sun comes up FB Jig in play? Bluff ends for the topbite? Are they on the reverse migration out of the spawning areas? Any word on big gills or goggel eyes? Be out in a Black and silver champ 203 with 200 merc down till the 30th. Thanks for any help.

Bill, the bite is pretty stingy up there right now. Early and I mean early, the whites and a few bass are going off the flats. It almost seems by 5:45 you are pushing it.

Sun is hitting the water hard before 6 AM, and you need a very special spot to get any topwater after that. Dragging a 4 inch worm seems to be the best bet, but its not fast. Trips right now are about a dozen fish aday, if you don't catch any on top. Put the boat in about 20 ft. and be one throw off the bank for the best results. Fish have been in the 12 ft. range.

Have not heard a thing about the gills, but do know the cats are really biting. Limb line the bushes with small gills just before dark, and I bet you'll get a mess of kitty's

Just had 3 couples @ our resort that come each spring & fall & fish for nothing but BLUEGILL. All 3 couples fish the exact same way all the time. Split shot about 18 in. up from the hook, they vary the weight to control the depth, small hook for their bait which is " ALWAYS & ONLY " live crickets. They either cast or drag the bait keeping the split shot on the bottom. This trip I would say they caught close to 400, of that they kept & cleaned about 250. Many of those were very nice, in the 8 to 9 inch range. About 300 came from an area north of the HWY 86 BRIDGE on the west shoreline, just around the point ( headed south toward the HWY 86 BRIDGE ) where they all go & jump off. The balance were caught in 2 coves in the POINT #6 area, just before & just after the point marker sign. All fish came in the 18 ft. to 22 ft. depth range. Good luck & hope this helps.
