Members ducksbit Posted May 25, 2009 Members Posted May 25, 2009 I've looked all over the internet to find a site that shows the HP limits on all of missouri's river, and I cannot find anything. I just bought a jon boat with a 90 hp jet and I need to see what rivers I can go on and which ones i can't. I smallmouth fish mainly, if that helps. Anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jim
Ämp Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 springfield lake and fellows lake are the only two i know of with hp restrictions as far as rivers go most people use a canoe so you may get a sense of over kill when you pass me doin 30 as I troll up stream ... .

Ämp Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 what area of mo. or mb even specific rivers would help refine your search . Come back with the info if you find some , i cant find anything. It would be nice to know of the restrictions if there are any but . I honestly dont think there are. .

All over Mo is where I want to go. I have found some restrictions on the current, eleven point, and jacks fork. I am sure there is more, but I can't find anything. Thanks Jim
Bman Posted May 25, 2009 Posted May 25, 2009 Meramec, and Big River, Gasconade, anything goes. The Current river has HP restrictions. The further up ya go, the less HP allowed. The rivers you noted are the ones I'm aware of. The only good line is a tight line
Gavin Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 There are restrictions on the Current, Eleven Point, Jack's Fork, and Buffalo in Arkansas, but you can run legally elsewhere. Good luck with your new boat.
Members ducksbit Posted May 26, 2009 Author Members Posted May 26, 2009 alright, sounds good. I think the meramac is first on my list. thanks Jim
Al Agnew Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Just a note...if you're new to jetboating, there's a definite learning curve. It ain't like running a regular outboard. See the thread about places on the Meramec to run a jetboat in the Tips and Tricks board here. With all the rain we've had, the Meramec should be fairly easy to run below Onondaga, but even in the easiest parts there may be downed trees and other obstructions that may make things pretty tricky for the inexperienced jetboater. And if you go on a weekend, your biggest obstacles will be the hordes of canoers and rafters and tubers and swimmers. It's purely a wonder that more people aren't killed in jetboat collisions with other users on that river during the summer.
Members thalweg Posted May 27, 2009 Members Posted May 27, 2009 after some of the things i have witnessed, i sincerely hope they are banned from all wild and scenic rivers. they are loud, dangerous to to the operator and others, cause a lot of bank erosion, 1 man in 20 has enough skill to run one safely. 1 man in 50 runs a jet with any courtesy. Since yours has a 90 i doubt our paths will ever cross, but if you go ripping through people in canoes trying to enjoy themselves, don't be surprised if they start throwing rocks.
