Clay Goforth Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Hey all...I know it is not technically the "ozarks," but I have gotten some cool shots while hiking around up here with my wife on our 5th wedding anniversary. I have a few more of some different stuff that I will post if it is wanted... Clay Goforth Posted May 30, 2009 Author Posted May 30, 2009 I am still up here, fishing all over the place and am supposed to fish the Clackamas on Wednesday...If we have any luck with springers or steelhead, I will definitely post some pics. The pacific northwest is an unbelievable fishery... Kevin, how was living in Eugene? And thanks for the comments. Quillback Posted June 1, 2009 Posted June 1, 2009 I used to live in the Seattle area, there is an unbelievable number of hiking trails in the area. Lots of Alpine lakes that are loaded with gullible trout. Only drawback is that to get to those lakes it's usually several miles up a steep hill.
tippett7 Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Do you ever hike up in the mountains to go fish for wild trout? Sounds like fun.
Quillback Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I did it many times, sometimes the fishing was really good, sometimes not so good. Some of the lakes have self supporting populations of trout, some of them need to be stocked periodically with fingerlings. General rule of thumb was the further you hike in, the better the fishing is. The fish usually top out in the 14-16 inch range as the only food for them is insects and they can't grow much larger than that on a diet of bugs. If a person had a week or two to spend hiking and fishing, with a little planning and picking the right trail you could fish a different lake every day on the hike.
Andy & JoAnne Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I was there for the exact same reason over the Memorial Day weekend. The falls are great. Our favorite was Bridal Veil. I am definitely going back this fall when the leaves turn colors. That should be magnificent. It was #6 for the wife and myself. Take Care
