Sounds like a nice trip.. I love that little C&R area.. Did you see any good browns in there.. They have some nice cut banks that can give you some different types of fishing situations.. and catching a good rainbow like that is always fun..

Sorry I could not make it. I was in a wedding in Springfield on Saturday, so that pretty much kept me occupied. Did manage to sneak down to Taney for a few hours early Friday morning. I was catching fish, but being so tired I went back to the truck to take a quick nap and didn't wake up until 9:00 A.M.. Drove back to Springfield, and never made it back down. Did you try any night fishing at the Current?

Great report Leonard, and nice phish. As for eating the bigger trout, I do not like their taste at all. I have eaten a few over 3 lbs but each one tasted like $hit and threw most of it out. I'm glad yours was not that way. Glad to hear you had a good time.

I didnt like the taste of those big fish either...

I like them around the 20-23in.... is perfect

this was just over 25... but the kids loved it

But when cook right they are AWESOME!!!

Clean the fish... from the butt/belly.. up... (leaving the head on) and cut out the gills.

take a bag of frito corn chips and crush them as much as you can

Chop up a big red onion and mix with the chips

cut 2 big lemons in 1/2 and squeeze the juice onto the chips and onions ... mix well...

take 2 more lemons and slice the about 1/8in slices..

(can cut another lemon (thin) and put inside the cavity as well)

a big peice of tin foil and butter it down good...

lay your lemon slices in the butter

season with some black pepper/salt/garlic powder

place the fish on it

stuff the "whole" cavity (head and all) as full as you can get it.

roll the foil around it.. (note: may need to wrap a second piece of foil around it.. the get it cooked all the way through)

Lay on the grill in med/low heat and cook... after about 15 minutes turn it and cook the other side..

feel the fish it should feel like a med/well steak when it done... (may need a few more minutes depending on size)

This can also be done with 4 trout 16-19inches....

also try it with filets of..

crappie.. goggle eye.. walleye..

oh... skip the walleye... they taste better with jalap.pepper and bacon....

Sounds delicious.. love fish cooked in foil on a hot fire.. I will have to try the jalepenos and bacon the next time I get some walleye.. Been catching a few Saugers up here but nothing bigger than 12 inches.
