Nice fish Jeremy. There are definitely some areas above rebar that hold some decent fish and are routinely ignored by most people. I have watched you fish up there and picked up a few nice fish.

I hooked into a brown that looked similar to that this weekend right around that area, fought it for about 5 mins and got one good jump out of it before my hook broke off and my jig nearly hit me in the eye LOL!! what are the odds of the dang hook breaking, OH WELL, that fish didn't have a hook in its lip did it?

I didn't, but it did have a red san juan worm in her fin. I talked to Darrel who said he foul hooked one last week and lost his sjw. I have the video on my site if anyone wants to watch it. It was a blast hooking that fish up there this time of year. I don't get up this way to fish Taneycomo anymore, this was actually the second time I fished it in the last year. I also saw some solid rainbows in the 22-24 inch range, good to see those as well. All the fish are fighting hard right now..and most have fat bellies. That was the only brown I saw in the upper section, maybe the only one, but who knows. I think she was up there from all the high water they’ve been running. I always see a few browns throughout the year, not only during the brown run.

What I can’t believe, and something I learned from this is, hooking this fish in the middle of the day on a Saturday with probably 25 people in the area where this fish was feeding. I guess big browns do feed even though they are alarmed from to much pressure. Something to keep in mind.

Wish I had made a video of that. It would be awesome, with Darren making the final dive with the net, and the two of you giving each other a high five afterward. I will remember that scene!

Did you get a length/girth?

Bman, I didn't measure the girth, just the length.

Nice fish, I know I've heard it somewhere before, but can someone tell me how to tell the difference between males and females? I seem to have forgotten.

Males have longer, larger faces and females have a short mouth, jaw and smaller face. Also males have kypes, (where the bottom jaw grows a "knot" like bump on it).
