Members showmetrout Posted April 10, 2006 Members Posted April 10, 2006 Taney Amigos, Fished Taney on Sat. the 8th. My brother foul hooked a large rainbow above the rebar hole, figured 28 - 30 in. @ about 10 - 12 lbs. He didn't know he was foul hooked until the fight was almost over. What was even more impressive is that he landed him even though he was hooked in the dorsal fin on 6x tippet. Snapped his net in half trying to net him. Released w/ no ill effects. Impressive...most impressive ! Of course all camera's were in the vehicles. There was a guy, my brother thinks his name was Glenn Miller, who came down & took a picture or two. He said he would post it on the O.A. forum. I don't know if he has had a chance too yet, but we would sure like to see that fish again. Would appreciate it if anyone knows this gentleman to remind him to post the pic. Cheers, Showmetrout
dave potts Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I was there with Glenn and also saw the fish. I'm sure Glenn will post it when he gets some time. We didn't get back till late Sunday and Glenn had to work today. Give him a few days and if he doesn't have it up I'll remind him. Dave
Members Uncletube Posted April 10, 2006 Members Posted April 10, 2006 Sorry guys that I am posting this late . Had a long weekend and got back from Taney late last night. I told Kevin Hohl that I would post the pic of his monster 'Bow on this site. In case you guys are wondering why we spend all the time and money on this sport here is a little reminder. Nice Fish Kevin! Sorry you broke that 50 dollar net in the process of landing him. Uncle tube Showme if you and your bro would like a copy of the pic e mail me at glenmiller@ktis,net and I will shoot one over to ya. Tube
Members showmetrout Posted April 11, 2006 Author Members Posted April 11, 2006 Tube & Dave, Thanks for posting the pic. Kevin has a habit of fishing alone & never brings a camera. So this time we can't say he was just feeding us another " fish story "! I got him into Fly Fishing & taught him everything he knows! Now he waxes my behind! I still need to show him how to hold a fish.....I guess. He's got everything else down. Thanks gentlemen.......much appreciated. P.S. Tube, I just cut & pasted the picture from here. But thanks for the offer. Can ya hear my reel sing now!...........good! Cheers, Showmetrout
motroutbum Posted April 14, 2006 Posted April 14, 2006 Yeah thats GREAT!!!! Bragging about a snagged fish and then holding it out of the water to take pictures....makes me glad that i moved to colorado to fish. he shouldnt have worried about landing it after he knew it was foul hooked and just broke it off. and then to hold it up by the gills also...learn some ethics. that fish is no where near 30 inches....i say 25 and about 8 lbs.....hope that fish survived There are two types of people. Those who dream dreams and wish, then there are the do'ers. I am a do'er!
Root Admin Phil Lilley Posted April 14, 2006 Root Admin Posted April 14, 2006 Guys- it doesn't bode well for you to post a pic like this- esp catching it the way you stated, on a public forum like this one. Putting your hand under a fish's gill plate is a death sentence in most cases, esp with a fish this size. Better to lift the fish gently just above the water's surface and take a quick photo- a closeup would even be better. But in saying that, I wouldn't like to see a bunch of guys dog-piling on this... Lesson learned.
Members showmetrout Posted April 14, 2006 Author Members Posted April 14, 2006 Motroutbum, I never heard a bragging word from my brother and as stated above " I still need to show him how to hold a fish ". You must be on a " Rocky Mountain High" ....if your nose was up any higher & it rained you would drown. Glad you moved to Colorado with your " Holier than thou " attitude. Learn some tact....I'm sure you were a newbie at one time. Mr. Lilley, Your points are well received & taken. Constructive criticism is easily accepted when stated by a person with character. Lesson very well learned. Sorry......just had to poke a little at BumMoTrout. Can ya hear me bragging now!....NO.....GOOD! Cheers,
