Predator1 Posted June 16, 2009 Posted June 16, 2009 Anyone know what the Catfish are doing right now. Are they Biting on Liver, Chicken Weiners, Worms, Dead Minnows, Bluegill, Shad? Anyone know. I got a long drive to Stockton this weekend. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Members trambia Posted June 16, 2009 Members Posted June 16, 2009 i cant really tell ya i havent been up there in a few weeks, but good luck getting anyone to answer you on here. they never answer me. did catch a couple trolling one flathead and one channel. i would think drift fishing a night crawler would be good this time of year. sorry not much help. good luck
Members ckjacks Posted June 21, 2009 Members Posted June 21, 2009 Caught this dude on thursday night while bass fishing. Caught him on a Double Wide Beaver (huge soft plastic crawdad). Pulled our boat around for a long time. Caught him on a 7'6" heavy rod and 25lb maxima. Had my drag tightened down all the way and he was still taking a little bit. Great end to the night.

I know I sound stupid asking him, but that's a flathead isn't it?
Predator1 Posted June 22, 2009 Author Posted June 22, 2009 Nice catfish.....I ended up on the James river. Caught 9 small mouths less than 15"...4 LM just at 14"......and two 5 lb catfish on live crawfish we caught for fun. Is that a MUD CAT? Looks like it. Nice cat though bigger cat than I have ever caught.

Nice cat though bigger cat than I have ever caught. its a flathead... ur best bet right now is using perch for flathead, cut and whole shad for channels and blues... best time to use nightcrawlers is when the water is rising and flooded. them cats go on a feeding frenzy for worms on the flooded shallows. Liver will usually work anytime.
