Hey guys, looking for a little advice. Been coming to Table Rock for about 30 years, we have a place in the mile 21 cove. Fishing this cove seems to be pretty hit or miss for me and I'm looking to branch out a little (closer to the Shell Knob bridge or Campbell point). We are coming down next Wednesday for a week, would appreciate any suggestions. I'm always out bright and early, looking for a new topwater spot as well as any areas close by that are producing during the day. I always say I'm going to hit new territory, but end up working the cove for the most part, and this year I'm doin it. Thanks

I have had fair to good success on the northwest corner of the island just uplake of the shell knob bridge. In addition, some summer mornings, the spots will chase shad to the top just off that island. I also fish the bluff point opposite that island where the Kings River flows in. Bass suspend in the trees on that bluff and sometimes will come up very early.

Good luck.

Slapping a J-Crow moniker on this thread, usually won't get you a ton of info here, but the topwater bite in your area in completely out of site. 5 to 8 Am off most of those main lake flats is the bomb.

Gets a little sticky after the topwater, but fish seem to be positioning in the 30 ft. and deeper range, after the topwater extravaganza.

I always check the big docks and bouys going into 21 on the upstream side. This is deep, about 110 feet, but chasers are sometime there. They were not this morning. I Checked it.

Fished today from point 19 to Big M marina in 6 hrs. just trying to cream the gravy off each location. Probably close to 40 fish.

Early I am running and gunnin. I am driving 50 mph and looking for feeding fish. When I see active fish, I put on the brakes and hammer them till they quit. I don't try and work them hard, I move and shake looking for more active fish, keeping in mind the location of the ones I just worked. After all the topwater action is done, I then go back and take my time working the locations that held the surface feeders. Usually with a dropshot or a jig.

Good luck at the Knob, it is the best fishing location on the lake, you just can't stay in Mill Creek all day, you have to move. If you don't see topwater action, its a good bet the deep bite will also be hard to find.

GO MIZZOU.

Thanks for the info guys. Bill, I didn't even think about the turf i was entering my moniker on, as i use it for about everything. I will keep that in mind. Listen, I was a chiefs fan in Denver for 10 years so you can imagine what i went through there! Thank you for the in depth breakdown. You are right, I have always tried to branch out, but just stay close to home in the cove. I love the topwater action, so I will head out to the shallows of the main lake.

JBird, that Mill Creek cove gets way to much attention. Cross the lake and head upstream and fish the long runout points from Basin Hollow to Play-Port resort and see if you can find them. 15 to 40 ft. a Carolina rigged cenipede will be the best in watermellon candy.

Good luck, and if you draw a blank send me a PM and we will get you on-em.
