rps Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 Fished Friday morning between Owl Creek and Big M. Bill's description of his Thursday morning trip - big flats, mixed Spots and SM - is what I found. Of course, I used a super spook jr. Took one picture, but wish I hadn't. Not five minutes after I released the picture fish, I landed a fat 19 inch SM with the most handsome tigerstripe I have seen in a while. However, when I pushed the camera button, all it did was tell me, "Battery Depleted." What a shame, especially as I do not catch large SM very often. It seems counterintuitive, but there are fewer SM here on the upper end than down lake. Once the topwater action stopped I looked for but did not find walleye. I caught a little bit of everything else while trolling, but no eyes.
motoman Posted June 21, 2009 Posted June 21, 2009 That's still a nice fish rps. Sounds like you had a blast. - The same darn thing happened to me this spring in the KC area. I was on a ton of smallies with the spinnerbait, taking a couple pix of good ones at the 3lb mark. Then I get one at 4lbs, the nicest yet. And he's almost an orangish brown, vs. the usual draker brown. I'm talking a very unsuual orange........really cool looking! I go to take a pic. Battery dead............sheesh! :-)
