XP 590 Posted June 23, 2009 Posted June 23, 2009 Great report Kyle, I've just started fishing the Current myself and hit it twice earlier in the season with great luck. I'm planning on some big 'ol brown lunker hunting in the fall if I can get away.
Kyle Posted June 24, 2009 Author Posted June 24, 2009 xp 590, I too am looking forward to some big browns in the fall. I saw one come down the river in the riffles right at daylight that must have been 10 pounds or better, but he did not appear to be interested in my streamer. Kyle

Kyle The Current River has some pigs, I've seen them.... They've always avoided my hook though. But its never hard to catch enough 10 to 15 inchers to keep me happy though, so its all good. In fairness, I never really target the trophies, I've always been one to prefer numbers over size. But the potential for big fish is definitely there on the Current.
Members jgentile Posted June 24, 2009 Members Posted June 24, 2009 I've been on the current at Tan Vat the past three weekends. Last week saw my first floaters. I am not a fly fisherman, as I prefer the spin rig, but I have been tearing it up on 1/32 marabous, Mepps and small Raps. If the Meramec gets dirty and high again, I'll be there this weekend as well. The only thing I hate about the floaters is carrying out their trash, though one did leave me an unopened can of Mt. Dew and that was a nice surprise since last Sat was blistering. Time to start wet wading. I just hate the poison ivy! Joe
