Micheal Kyle Posted June 27, 2009 Posted June 27, 2009 Hello all, I thought I would share a report with you Last night was the first time I have been down for a while our fly shop has been taking a lot of my time oh yea not to mention my wife is 4 months pregnant, so now I have a lot of work to get done at home to get ready. December 13th will be here be for we know it. OK my favorite slob and my self the second favorite slob got to Taney around 11 thinking that they would mirror the previous nights this week by shutting it down at midnight. Well unfortunately there was a plane crash on the White and they had to shut Bull Shoals down so I guess since they took BS off line they needed to get power from some where Taney it was. We pray for all the families involved. We did not start fishing until 12 am and the water level was 704.4 we quit around 2:30 and the water level was 703.6 Fished from the point down to the big hole with sinking lines Rio 24'DC 200gr sink tip. We caught about 60 fish between the 2 of us. Leonard saw me in the parking lot I was supposed to bring some hooks to him I forgot Sorry, he gave me one of his jigs and I started out with that jig because I knew if I did not I would never get it on and try it I caught 3 fish on it. I then started using some different flies that I have been wanting to try out down there at night the Olive, Black leg spreader. A Red Dr. J, and my Mohair Leeches some new colors to come out soon. (still need more testing or thats what I am telling my wife) We were casting straight down stream and stripping it back at a pretty good pace. They were knocking the fire out of it very aggressive and healthy looking fish. Nothing of size most fish were 15-18 inches long, we did catch a few small browns. Remember if you are not familiar with Taney do not wade at night if the water is on or if you do make sure some one in the group knows where he or she is located. See you all tonight. Tight lines Michael To Know People Is To Know Thier Ways!
Leonard Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Good seeing you out Michael.. when I headed up to below outlet 1.. I started off with the new PMS jig.. Right away the fish started nailing it.. pretty much stayed right around that area having a blast!! ended up catching a couple dozen (or so...LOL) Jefly.. good seeing you out also.. Let me know how that "other" treats you!! ************ On another note *********** Congrats on the "one in the oven" Due date Dec 13... HUMMMMM.... I say right at the end of big browns (Late Nov).... first day of deer season!!! Congrats to you both. Leonard http://www.taneycomonights.com
Jeremy Hunt Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Glad you had a good time. Those sinking lines are the best. They make all the difference in the world in moving water. Next time you come up, give me a ring. I've been fishing downstream and hooking some nice browns. I learned something about this river lately. Bring your drift boat or you can go out in mine. I also think the fish below lookout are fighting better. I've been throwing the leg spreader as well. Great fly! Oh by the way..I moved back up to Taney. Still guiding for Blue Ribbon, but my better half wanting to get out of Arkansas. Accept the drift.....<>>><flysandguides.comVisit my blog
Members jefly77 Posted June 28, 2009 Members Posted June 28, 2009 I fished Fri. and Sat. nights from about 8-2 both nights. Fished mainly above and by outlet 1. I spin fish exclusively and let me tell you guys I am hammering them right now. Caught about 20 or so on Friday with the water running at about 704 ft. Missed a bunch more on short takes and shake offs. Saturday night was even better. I probably caught about 40 and had a hit on almost every cast. I'm fishing rapalas in f-7 and j-7. Right before sundown I have been using silver and black and as soon as it starts to get dark I switch to brown trout. Reeling very slowly just enough to get the bait shaking a little on the retrieve. Most of the fish were in the 14-16" range with a couple pushing 19-20". I did manage to get into one good brown Sat. night that went about 19", real pretty fish too. Leonard it was great fishing with you on Fri. I will let you know how that new jig works out. Michael ggod to meet you Friday and good seeing you and Howard last night. Thanks for the beverages.
