  1. Laker Good to put a man to a name. On the rapalas, yeah I usually hook a couple good ones every fall. I've only landed 2 over the past few years that were big. A 28"er and another one I didnt get a tape on, but had to go close to 30". I've missed quite a few big ones too! Keeps me coming back. Last Fri the one I had on by outlet 2 was prob about a 25" fish or so. It ran my drag out with 6lb line but I got a good look at its head as it shook my lure free. Caught 2 later on that were pushing 20" down by 1. When the waters running 2 units, I usually do pretty good throwing rapalas.
  2. Fished Fri night from 9-1 and did real well on rapalas. (I spin fish) I also threw the PMS jig and caught a couple. I missed a real good fish right in front on outlet 2 early on. Only caught 1 rainbow and about a dozen browns so, yeah, they are definitely moving up in good numbers now.
  3. Caught a 21" fish from the deepest hole at the farthest end. Biggest Crane fish in three years.
  4. Just wanted to voice my frustration at all the rain. Depending on how much TR rises from all this rain and how much it forces SWP to generate, it looks like bank fishing the Brown run will be crap again this year. I was really hoping the lake would stay down and we would have low water to fish most of Sept. and Oct. Man I really need to buy a boat. Anyone looking to sell theirs for $4,000 or less? Jefly
  5. Pflugradt If you ever spin fish you can usually catch quite a few throwing small mepps, spoons, 1/16 oz jigs and smaller and eveb small rebels. I went three weeks ago on the rainy saturday and caught 4 in about 2 hours with one going about 14". Caught him on a little silver fox minnow hardbody spinner in balck and silver. Good luck!!
  6. I think you forget that Table Rock is about 4 feet below normal pool right now. The corps can manage the water from Beaver without having to run water all the time from Table Rock.
  7. I was the other guy down there. I fished rapalas and pms jigs. Did okay by outlet 2, picked up around 6 and missed a few more. Went up by 1 and did real good. Caught around 10-15 there. Only caught 1 brown. Fished from about 9 until around 1:30.
  8. True, but there is a pretty large piece of it that stays above the waterline in all but the highest flows. If the water gets too high, close the bridge. Has anyone ever thought of the bridge to the island idea before? Just wondering.
  9. Here's something I've never seen talked about on here. How about putting a bridge to the island across from Outlet 2? It would have to be from the southside, of course. It would pull some pressure from the outlests and create a lot more bank fishing space in high water. The little backside channel could be developed with structure to make it better than it currently is. It's small enough I think a little bobcat could place boulders and such for cheap. Any thoughts?
  10. I fish almost every weekend and all I do is spinfish. I throw jigs by Leonard, Rapalas, Thomas spoons, storm minnowsticks, old school gold little fish spoons, mepps aglias, roostertails, panthers, and rebel trackdowns. I am still learning what works at what time of year in the many water conditions of Taneycomo with regards to my lure selection. So far, winter is better for lures during the day versus summer daytime. Early summer right after dark can be great right below the dam if the water is off. Slow roll floating rapalas, dark spoons, and minnowsticks. Little spoons work pretty good down by the old KOA in winter. I pulled a bunch out of that curve last year. My favorite has to be 1-2 units running this time of year at night. I throw big J-9 floating Rapalas ang PMS jigs way out and let them go about 100 yards downstream. When I tighten my line, the lure slowly works its way back near shore downstream. Pause and reel and wham!! You never know what you're going to hookup with.
  11. Crane is a beauty!! I have only lived in the area for a little over a year and I have already fished Crane at least two dozen times and every time I do I love it. Sometimes I only catch one or two and a few times I have caught a bunch. Even if I caught none, it would be worth it. I like that you really have to walk A LOT if you want to get to all the good holes. It's jungle fishing in the summer and cold as #$@! in the winter, but if you go on the right days and times, you can have the creek all to yourself, or nearly so. I wish I could launch my canoe at the deep hole by the trailer at the end of the MDC land. I have seen a couple of big boys down there pushing 24-25". No lie, I know what I'm talking about, I have C&Red 2 Crane fish over 20" in the past year and several more close to that. It's a great little place to fish. Jfly
  12. Yes, I use 6lb low vis green Berkley XL line and I've never had a problem with break offs on hard strikes. I throw some suspending baits sometimes too like X-raps, but lately the f-5, f-7, j-5, j-7, and j-9 rapalas have been working great. Actually the few walleyes I caught last fall all came on suspending x-raps. When the water is low the floaters have been the best. Just barely reeling. When they are running water I sometimes throw a jointed shad-rap in tennessee shad color and usually catch a few on it. Be careful with those countdowns, they get hung up real easy. Good luck!!
  13. I throw rapala's most of the time. When the water is off, I prefer floaters and especially jointed raps. When the water is on I will use countdowns, but i still throw floters and work them slowly against the current, sometimes just letting them shake in it. Brown trout has been the best color lately at night. Silver and black during the day.
