The ONLY advantage to a kayak is price.

Mr. Agnew, I wasn't comparing my kayak to anything. I was simply looking at the conveniences and the drawbacks of my kayak. I will admit that my kayak sucks when it comes to space, but isn't having a kayak better than standing on the bank looking at everyone else take off down the river?

But was that canoe a SOLO canoe? Like Al's Wenonah? Or my OT Pack?

Comparing a tandem canoe that weighs 60 (or more) pounds and has two people in it to a solo kayak is like comparing a fire engine with the two drivers to a convertible sports car.

I think this is the most frustrating thing us in the solo canoe camp have when people are comparing the two, is that people don't understand we are talking about SOLO canoes versus SOLO Kayaks.

If people were commonly using big touring Sea Kayaks (15-foot + in length) and comparing them to solo canoes we would have the same problem, but in reverse.

So you are saying a solo canoe is going to be faster than a tandem canoe with 2 strong paddlers? I had no idea that would be true. But I guess if it's true of a kayak then I'm sure you are right especially if using the double ended paddle.

I don't think you need to apologize for your kayak. You obviously enjoy it and that's all that matters. I would be interested to hear how your weekend overnighter goes. Please let us know.
