I went to a friend of a friend's farm today and fished a creek that runs through his property. The area we were fishing was just downstream from a spring tributary so it was pretty deep and wide. There was this one deep hole with some current cutting through the middle of it. I was catching some nice but small spots and smallies out of there when 3 maybe 4 giant spots came swimming out from deep in the current and then back in. Needless to say I stayed there for about 30 minutes throwing an assortment of lures at them until I put on a brown 4 inch Zoom worm. On the third or fourth cast I hooked a monster. It pulled about 20-30 yards of line (4lb) and took about 10 minutes before I dragged him onto a sandbar with the help of my friend who scooped him on shore. My friend took a few pics on his cellphone (I'll post if he uploads them like he said he would) and measured it at 22 inches before releasing it. It gave me a nice tail splash on its way out, but I didn't mind.

It was one of the biggest bass (definitely biggest spot) I have ever caught and for it to come from a creek was especially awesome!

Very Nice!! But a Spotted bass? I'm thinking pure Largemouth, mouth is wayyy too big, spotted bass are built more like a Smallmouth. Once agin, very nice fish from such a small creek.

I thought for sure it had to be a largemouth to be that big, but it was definitely a spot. It had the rough patch on the toungue and the jaw extended only to the edge of the eye. I can always tell if it's a smallie or spot, but I usually have to do the jaw and toungue test for largemouth/spots.

I've caught a few "Largies" w/ the rough patch, but they don't look anything like a Spot, they look alot like that fish, so.... I'll have to say Largemouth, too.

Most Spots look more like this:Picture%20033%20800x607.jpg

Very "Football" shaped.

Sorry about the logo, but it was the easiest to find and post.
