If you just want to fish for whatever try wheatie balls and catch some of the crap (oops i mean carp) that hang out don there.

I just learned of the "wheatie balls" this summer. A man was using them at Fellows trying for cats. He was with his buddy, and one of them swore up and down that the ONLY thing you should mix the wheaties with is cream soda while the other one swore on root beer. I assumed it was personal preference, but I hadn't even heard of anyone using this bait. Interesting.

HA! I remember those days. 13 years ago we used to use Wheaties mixed with strawberry soda and canned corn... what a mess. Worked well though. We used to take a little two man plastic Tracker up by the Nature Center bridge on Springfield Lake and catch those nasty things. Great fight, but unsure about what we were going to do with them after they got to the boat!

i have an inflatable boat, is it possible to put in below that dam on the James? is it a strong current there? I'd hate to lug the gear there and end up wading instead. Not that I don't want to wade, just that I don't want to lug the boat.
