jeb Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I know about the Hook, Line and Sinker bait shop, and Southtown (I think) down in Fayetteville, but wondering if there are other good tackle shops in the area worth looking at. I also know Wal-Mart carries some tackle, but the smaller shops usually have more interesting stuff, it seems. Ever since Sportsman's Warehouse closed, it's been harder to get some things around here. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Quillback Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 What you have listed is pretty much it as far as I know.
Zack Hoyt Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 That's pretty much all I know of. I think Prarie Creek has a shop. Also there is Bryce down at the Beaver Dam Store. Hook, Line and Sinker has two shops, so if one doesnt hae what you are looking for, you might check the other. Edit: Rogers Outdoor Center(across from WalMart and behind Andy's Frozen Custard carries a good line of rods and lures. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
jeb Posted July 31, 2009 Author Posted July 31, 2009 Where is the other Hook, Line and Sinker? I go by the one in Rogers all the time. And I like to spend money there. Is the other one much different? Thanks for the reminder about Rogers Outdoor Center, too. I had a bad customer service experience in there, though, so I try to avoid them now. Zack Hoyt Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 I have heard the same about Rogers Outdoor, but have had good luck tehre myself. The other HLS is on the very north side of Bentonville/south side of Bella Vista. Across from the Home Depot and McDonalds. It is a tad smaller, but usually has a good selection of live baits and river fishing supplies. Zack Hoyt OAF Contributor Flies, Lies, and Other Diversions
Members spahog Posted July 31, 2009 Members Posted July 31, 2009 Mobile marine is on 264 on the way to hickory creek. About a mile/mile and a half off 71 just over the railroad tracks. They have a large marine repair business, but at some point they added a retail store in part of the building. I really like it. I think it is better than southtown (for bass fishing purposes) but not quite HLS. I use all three for different things. I am not a Rogers Outdoors fan either. Outdoor America has completely shifted to hunting. They still have some of their fishing stuff and it is all 35% off, but good luck finding anything worth having. I can't believe we dont have a large chain sporting goods place in NWA. I think Sportsmans taught us that for a large sporting goods store to be successful in NWA, it would have to be an Academy type store. In other words it will have to cater to all sports rather than just hunting/fishing/camping/etc. However, I would be fine with that. I think there are rumblings that such a store is headed our way as early as spring 2010.

According to this document on SW's website: The primary reason for filing bankruptcy was to relieve the company of on-going lease obligations on 22 to 28 closed stores. It seems it was just bad timing more than anything else that closed our Rogers store. But tell me more what rumors you're hearing for Spring of next year. I'd think this area would be big enough these days to support at least one SW/Cabela/Bass Pro type store. John B 08 Skeeter SL210, 225F Yamaha
Quillback Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I have seen Mobile marine on my way to Hickory creek, just never have stopped in. Has anyone been there, just curious if they have a good selection of stuff. It would be nice to have a Basspro/Cabelas locally, but the only drawback is if they put a store in Arkansas I would have to start paying sales tax when I order stuff from the catalog.
Members LarryC Posted August 3, 2009 Members Posted August 3, 2009 They have a fair size selection of lures...not huge. I like the higher quality jigs they carry. Also have some of the harder to find lines...flurocarbon and the like. Cams tackle comes to town and rents the Lowell school gym for a weekend each spring and fall. They will have a lot of close outs but they also will have some nuggets and usually the price is good. Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.
