denjac Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Had a decent day yesterday with the spook, jig and spoon. Hook up ratio on the spook was poor though, being about 25% caught. Went back through them with a jig with a twin tail grub and owned them then. The spook bite lasted until 9:00 so don't give up on it to early. Started fishing docks and drop shot spots with a white wobble spoon. The ate it up ! 30 - 50 ft deep. Was fishing a point up by Beardsy and had a guide boat pull in on me about 50 yards or so fom me. I didnt mind though plenty of water to fish. I thought it might be fun to embarass him in front of his clients with my spoon as they were all over it . Didnt happen though as they started catching 5 to my one with night crawlers. And there were four of them fishing. Nothing to brag about when I gave it up aound 11am 20 -25 fish best 5 10- 12 pounds, but they sure were hammering all of the above mentioned baits. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. rps Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 "nothing to brag about"? Many people fished TR Friday and didn't come close to a limit of any species. Good job.

Guess what I meant was that I was happy with the numbers. Just couldnt find or catch any over 15 inches. Dennis Boothe Joplin Mo. rps Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 As I posted, I was happy with Friday also. However, I doubt my best 5 would have weighed over 11.5 unless I included the spot I caught trolling. For me, this time of year, it is just nice to deal with the concept of best five.
tapout Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 "Best five" "Best five" Don't know about friday but today (sat) I fished kc to long creek and had a handful of short fish. Spook and dropshot. Anyway, these are definately days when being able to utter the words "best five" is really quite good. Glad you found em and caught em. I'm stuck saying....... a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work...... or maybe tomorrow..... or I just like being out on the water.... ??? rps Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Today, to avoid the pleasure crowd, I went on a shopping expedition to Fayetteville with the wife. Of course, it rained up here (down here? up river but down map), and the pleasure crowd is saving up their stupid antics for tomorrow. I will go out in the morning for as long as I can stand, and I will report

I will go out in the morning for as long as I can stand, and I will report I had to do the same thing today. Wife and I are going out in the morning and will bounce her around up by the darn. I would try that myself but I can't trade for some time now as I'm trying to get my affairs and property in order so that I can move to Forsyth or Hollister.
