OzarkFishman Posted August 25, 2009 Author Posted August 25, 2009 Thanks et84 and Amp. This winter when I get bored of trying my luck with suspending jerkbaits in the the rivers I will head below the dam to tussle with some gar. I will definately get some heavy duty gloves before I go ... razorsharp scales don't sound fun ! OzarkFishman
Flysmallie Posted August 25, 2009 Posted August 25, 2009 and because I am an idiot, I only brought that one. That is funny. You don't know how many times I have felt that way about my own ignorance. Good luck with the gar, they are a lot of fun.
Members hendernt Posted August 26, 2009 Members Posted August 26, 2009 I know when I used to fish there a lot we would occasionally get a paddlefish that had tangled itself in our line. They are fun to fight w/. As for gar there are a ton of them there and I have seen a few people bow fish for them and carp. The few times I have actually landed a gar it was like I hooked a submarine. If you just want to catch fish buy a box of wheaties and fish for carp w/ wheatie balls. there are a ton of them in there as well.
