Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Lake level 868.25 Water temp 83 Walleye: The walleye bite is still going strong on main lake flats, points and humps in 18-20 foot of water. Use a night crawler on a 1/8 oz pony head and float over the area that you have located the fish on your graph. There are enough fish out there to keep any kid interested, blugill, catfish, drum, and then the walleye. Bass fishing has been good in main lake brush piles. This is a tuff way to fish, but locate the brush in 20 foot of water and throw right in the middle of it. The hard part comes when you hook into a 5 plus lb bass. you will lose some good fish, but you just might catch one that is bigger than the lost one. You can go to the conservation website and get all kinds of brush piles that are not marked on the lake by signs. Most of these piles are fished by crappie fishing anyways so you should still try to bass fish them. Crappie are awesome right now on jigs and minnows in 20 foot of water. Took out a couple guys the other day and we had 40 crappie in 2.5 hrs and only had to release 3 fish. Lots of big keepers. This isn't always the case, but it has been for the past week. Use minnows and jigs in brush piles in 20-30 foot of water. Catfish are biting great on main lake flats on fresh shad and lots are being caught while walleye fishing. If you need some help out on the lake give me a call at 417-208-9535. This will ring the office and home phones at the same time and send me a text if you leave a voicemail. Good Luck Fishing and see you on the lake. Dutch Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 You can go to the conservation website and get all kinds of brush piles that are not marked on the lake by signs. Good Luck Fishing and see you on the lake. I must be electronically challenged because I couldn't find any info on wpts on the MDC site. I'd really like to have a look at the link if someone can point me in the right direction.
shockley32 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Dutch, Go to www.missouriconservation.com At the bottom of the page you will find a section called "Regional Information". This is a map of the state of MO divided up into sections. Just click on the Southwest section. Just a little ways down on this screen you will find "Interactive Fish Habitat Structure Maps." Under that you can choose a lake, just pick Stockton and the map will pop up. Once it loads you can zoom in or out and run over the numbers that are marked. The Conservation Dept gps coordinates are a different setting than the standards coordinates. Unfortunately I'm not much help here, but write some of them down and go to the guys at the gps counter in bps. They will be able to show you how to change the way your gps reads the coordinates. Hope this helps. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Dutch Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 Thanks Brad. I already have all of those. Where are the ones that BB is talking about?
shockley32 Posted August 14, 2009 Posted August 14, 2009 I was under the impression many of those on the website were not marked with signs. I'll try to look into and see what I can find out. Brad Have your visited Limitville lately?
Stockton Lake Guide Service Posted August 19, 2009 Author Posted August 19, 2009 Sorry about the delay on getting back to you. For all of you that need info on the gps coordinates for brush piles here they are. Put these in your gps and it should take you to the brush pile. Hope this helps everyone catch more fish. Let me know if I can answer anymore questions Now remember that some of these might not have held, some might have gotten swept away in high water. This will take some work on your part to locate the productive piles. Feel free to call or email with any questions.
