Took my GF down to Maramec Spring Park friday. We arrived mid morning to bluebird sky's, and great weather for August. Water is low and clear.

Usually this time of year there are greater numbers of fish in the water, not now. Also the average size of the fish is down. Lots of small fry rainbows and browns in there too. It's harder to catch one of the bigger trout before one of those chinass trout comes over and ends up on your line.

Since I had Donna with me, we stayed in the park and didn't make it down to the trophy area.

These will give you an idea of the size of the better fish.

Having fished Taney week before last, guess I'm spoiled. The same size of fish fight way harder, and are thicker/stronger inch for inch.

Look at it this way Bman. Chinass trout or mow grass? Thanks for the report.

With the lower water levels, I am finding a few at bssp. My advice would be wade deeper than deep, and look long and hard in the moss beds.I hooked up with three last week, landed one. And yesterday I hooked up two and got zero. They are harder to find right now, but have seen very little pressure.. Get out there and have a look Bman.

Wow Bman, between the reports and pics from you and Phil, I'm going to have to get that junky old flyrod of mine out and give it a try. Just what I need! With fishing, boating, hunting both gun and archery, shooting, handloading, and riding 4-wheelers plus maintaining all that stuff thats just what I need, another interest. I can hear it now. " Sorry Honey, have to put off a few more of those projects you wanted me to do. I've got a new hoby"!!

That was the boating part! Was at Lileys last week wed-sat. Caught a few thursday, enough to say I had a good morning. Friday was slower, only a couple little silver bullets. I'm not used to summer fishing on Tany, usually only there in winter. Hope to catch up with you there one of these days. Next trip will be October 21-24. Son and daughter-in law will be there to. Don't know how much fishing we'll get in. Our annaversery is the 11th and son and daughter-in law is the 20th so we are combining our Branson celebrations to the same weekend. With the wives along, probably a lot of "Branson" stuff to do. Oh well, Nick and I will have our time in February for the RAW tournament.
