wily Posted August 15, 2009 Posted August 15, 2009 i just bought a remington model 788 youth model in 243...the stock isn't cut. appears to be a factory model. paid 329 for it. what do you think? has the 22 inch barrel and a old scope. serial number traces back to one of the earliest years.

rangerman Posted September 11, 2009 Posted September 11, 2009 See if you can check the rate of twist. I have a early model 788 in 6mm I use for varmints, however, it will only shoot 80 grain or less bullets accurately. It won't shoot 100 grain bullets worth a darn.
