Quillback Posted August 17, 2009 Posted August 17, 2009 I've heard some internet chatter lately that the Eyes were hitting crawlers on harnesses on Beaver, so I gave it a shot Saturday morning. I did pick up 4 Eyes but they were all small 10 - 14 inches. I only had about 8 crawlers so I did not fish for them that long. Hearing a lot of folks saying they are catching short Eyes in Beaver so maybe in a year or two we'll have some relatively good fishing for keeper sized Eyes. I also saw some whites engaging is surface feeding frenzies on Shad, pretty cool to see, I got lucky a couple of times when they were close to the boat and was able to toss a Road Runner into the action, instant hookups both times, fun on light tackle. Unfortunately both times, by the time I got the fish in and off the hook the feeding frenzy was over and the fish had moved somewhere else. About 11 AM the wind really picked up and the fiberglass toys were starting to appear, so I decided to leave. Heck of a colorful sunrise by the way. Not a bad morning of fishing.

BlueWave Posted August 18, 2009 Posted August 18, 2009 I have tried fishing for them a couple of times by trolling and can never seem to find them. I have caught 2 in the past year, both on rattle traps while bass fishing, and they both were pushing 5 lb's. I think there are going to be some monster walleyes showing up in a few years.
Mr. Ed Posted August 19, 2009 Posted August 19, 2009 I'm not sure you could beat good striper fishing combined with good walleye fishing.
Members LarryC Posted August 20, 2009 Members Posted August 20, 2009 It appears the word is officially out with this article in this morning’s paper. A Way With Walleye Making Beaver Lake safe for all the little fish...one striper at a time.

mclothier1 Posted August 29, 2009 Posted August 29, 2009 Hey Quillback... Looks like I will be doing another Striper trip with Don. We will be down there next Friday the 4th and fishing all day Saturday the 5th. Not sure what part of the lake we will be fishing, but if you see us.... say hi.
Quillback Posted August 31, 2009 Author Posted August 31, 2009 Good luck Mitch, let us know how you do.
mclothier1 Posted September 1, 2009 Posted September 1, 2009 Will do Jeff, Im hoping its not a river trip like before! At any rate, Im not that familiar with the lake and locations, but I will report back and let you know what we find. hmmm... maybe I can take along my gps!
mclothier1 Posted September 5, 2009 Posted September 5, 2009 Report posted on the guide thread.... But I will paste it here too... Just got back.... WOW!!! what a day!!!!! My two sons, and my Dad and I hit the water with Don (Beaver fever guides) just a lil before 6am, took a short boat ride, dropped lines and we were done by 7:30am with a full limit of nice Stripers. Biggest one went 18 lbs. plus we had a couple more that went 15 or so, and the rest were 10 to 12 pound. The action was fast and furious, at one point we were tripled up! and I know we doubled at least twice! we got into a school of them and they just starting pulling down rods right and left. We missed way more than what we caught as some were short biting the shad, and sometimes we were late in setting the hook. Let me tell you... this was a blast!! Ive never experienced anything like it. And BTW if you check Don's website he has a awesome discount going right now with boats open. Location... I believe we were in a large cove next to point 3. plenty other boats around so it must be a popular spot.
