I just discovered this board over the weekend. I do a lot of wade / canoe / jon boat fishing on the James and thought I give a report on my fishing trip yesterday (Sunday).

Fished the James in the McCall Bridge area yesterday (assumed the Galena area would be pretty crowded) and was really disappointed. The river is expectedly low and the whole river bed was covered with algae even in the fast moving chutes. I guess this is a result of not receiving any good rain to "flood" out all the green muck. My buddy and I both didn't catch a thing as about every cast came back with algae on the lure. Conclusion - don't go until we get a hard rain.

I'm still looking for an alternative river smallmouth chase for Tues if anyone has any good ideas.

Not sure of the condition but you might try Bull Creek off either 160 or F highway- wade up or down from these places. Not many people fish this creek- only locals.

Taneycomo is in the same shape- not good at all.
