Thanks so much to all of you guys! I will be calling tomorrow and am shooting for any one of these days... Oct. 22nd, 23rd, or 24th. My father-in-law will (you know what) his pants! Hope I didn't wait too long.

Not a problem... and thanks. I caught that fish the first time I went out with those guys. I'm not big on guided trips because I prefer to do everything myself... it kind of seems like cheating but you have to learn somehow. The good thing about these guys is the anglers do much of the work. You set the lines and are responsible for making the strike and getting them to the boat. They get you set up and hopefully put you on some fish... after that your success and failure are pretty much on you. I think a guided trip to Beaver for you FIL would be great way to experience the lake and fishery. I've fished it on my own but not with nearly the success.

BTW... I'm from the KC area as well.

Good luck and post how it goes.

I'll post it Ed... hopefully with ol' Pa hoisting one like yours!

Booked a Striper trip with Don at Beaverfeaver. October 23rd. Fishing a full-day trip with Mike out of boat #2. Don already had a trip that day. Father-in-law's gonna be surprised. I'll post about it afterwards, hopefully with some great pics!

Just got back.... WOW!!! what a day!!!!!

My two sons, and my Dad and I hit the water with Don (Beaver fever guides) just a lil before 6am, took a short boat ride, dropped lines and we were done by 7:30am with a full limit of nice Stripers. Biggest one went 18 lbs. plus we had a couple more that went 15 or so, and the rest were 10 to 12 pound.

The action was fast and furious, at one point we were tripled up! and I know we doubled at least twice! we got into a school of them and they just starting pulling down rods right and left. We missed way more than what we caught as some were short biting the shad, and sometimes we were late in setting the hook.

Let me tell you... this was a blast!! Ive never experienced anything like it. And BTW if you check Don's website he has a awesome discount going right now with boats open.

Location... I believe we were in a large cove next to point 3. plenty other boats around so it must be a popular spot.

MC... thanks so much for the report! We're going with Mike, but, I've gotta change it to a 1/2 day trip. Me and the brother-in-law figured our 78 old year old father-in-law couldn't handle an 8 hour trip. Still can't wait

Good thing about Don is you can schedule a full day trip like we did, but if you get limited out early.... he will only charge a half day rate.

And my dad in the pic... 72 years old... cancer survivor and diagnosed with congestive heart failure five years ago, he had the time of his life!!!!

Good luck on your trip!
